The Gables

The Gables is a historically landmarked residence with defining Mediterranean architecture. We set out to strike a careful balance: respecting the history and character of the house, while still adding a modern sensibility. In doing so, we were able to transform the residence by restoring and refinishing the original 1937 hardwood floors, paneled doors, slatted ceiling, and terracotta tiles. And, we added a fresh take. By introducing unfinished brass fixtures, natural cement tiles, concrete sinks, and paint-washed wood, we were able to marry past and present. Anchored in a welcoming and understated color palette, we added an eclectic mix of art and furnishing while prioritizing a laissez-faire feel. Our work extended to the exterior, where the plants flowed from traditional cottage feel to a tropical lush garden.
